Introduction of the young people of the parish to the spiritual, historical and theological foundations of the Episcopal Church is a key priority at St. Mark’s. Classroom instruction is offered each Sunday using the Episcopal Children’s Curriculum, which consists of a three-year cycle of age and grade-appropriate instructional modules. In addition, locally designed group projects reinforce the classes. These projects are structured around seasonally oriented themes such as the Jesse Tree, Advent Wreaths, the Nativity Pageant, Mite Boxes and Easter Gardens.
Students are grouped into four classes and a team of creative and dedicated volunteer teachers carries out instruction:
PreK-Kindergarten Amanda Allen
1st - 3rd Grades Heather Baker-Sullivan
4th - 5th Grades Barbara Leonard
6th - 8th Grades Elizabeth Nicolato
Church school is conducted on Sundays beginning at about 10:45 a.m. following the distribution of Communion at the 10:00 a.m. Family Holy Eucharist service. The school year begins in early September and concludes with a recognition event on mid-May.
Registrations for Church School are accepted anytime by contacting the Church School Director, Elizabeth Nicolato, through the parish office (666-8058) or by visiting the Church School classrooms or office on Sunday morning just prior to the start of classes and speaking to one of the teachers. |
