Music at St. Mark's is a very important ministry, enhancing our spiritual life on many levels. We provide opportunities for musical training and musical stewardship for parishioners of all ages and all abilities. Music supports and enriches our Sunday liturgies, our fellowship events and other forms of ministry within the parish and creates an avenue of welcome to the greater community.
The Choir at St. Mark's is comprised of dedicated vounteer and professional singers who lead the worship at the 10 am Sunday Eucharist in concert with the clergy, servers, acolytes and layreaders from September–June. Their repertoire is drawn from the great tradition of the Episcopal Church and consists of anthems and motets from the 16th-21st centuries. Special emphasis is placed each week on the preparation of hymns, service music and chanting the Psalms to Anglican Chant. Rehearsals are held on Sundays, before and after the 10 am service. Membership is open to all members of the parish and community.
Special Music Events
In addition, we offer special musical programs during the year to supplement the spiritual life of the parish. Often these programs support parish fellowship events or other parish ministries such as Outreach. Our programs use the many wonderfully gifted musicians at St. Mark's and are an important forum for community building within the parish and for outreach to the community beyond.
